Duck Duck Goose Logo/IdentityDuck Duck Goose is the whimsical name of a shop specializing in high-end, unusual clothing and products for babies. Because it was a brand new business, our logo design options were wide open. Knowing that the grand scheme included the idea that one day the business might offer franchises, our goal was to design an identity that would suit the needs of a single shop or a nationwide chain. The branding aim was to position the shop's offerings as a more-personal specialty alternative to department stores and big box discount retailers.Our logo design process yielded many options including lots of fuzzy and cute ducks and geese. The idea that emerged as the most interesting was designed to visually leverage the idea of the "wrong note" childlike silly-ness inherit in the phrase "duck, duck...goose" (as opposed to "duck, duck, duck") through the graphic simplicity of the two ducks and the goose being horizontally aligned. The lower goose body helps support the "wrong note" idea. The whimsical custom typography supports the kid-like/kid-written feel. This logo also includes an element of surprise for the viewer. Can you see it? Well hidden but built in to the design are two "D"s creating the shapes of the duckling's bodies and the modified "G" creating the goose' body, thus supporting the shop name via it's initials. The hidden element, when found, creates an "ah-ha" response for the viewer. They feel clever and can admire the shop's communicative style. |
